First Nation of Nacho Nyak Dun Post Secondary Education Support Programs: Draft Policy Review
Section 13.0 of the First Nation of Na-cho Nyak Dun Self-Government Agreement (SGA) recognizes the First Nation jurisdiction with regard to training and education programs for citizens. The responsibility for providing programs and services in areas within First Nation jurisdiction remain with Government until such time as the First Nation chooses to either unilaterally exercise its jurisdiction or negotiate a program and service transfer agreement (PSTA). When a PSTA is concluded, the First Nation relieves Government of their responsibility for citizens in the areas covered by the program transfer. In return, Canada provides funding through the First Nation Self-Government Financial Transfer Agreement on account of the program(s) assumed. NND PSE Report - Draft 2
Orientation and Transition Guidebooks for NNDFN
First Nation of Nacho Nyak Dun developed a series of five Orientation and Transition Guidebooks, we present an overview of our government and how it works under our Final and Self-Government Agreements. The purpose of the guidebook manuals is to give a clear picture of the NND government. The guidebooks also gives some direction about how we can make positive changes in our political structure. In the future, other guidebooks will focus on making similar changes in the government administration and in the corporate and community economic business sectors.

Volume 1 - NND Orientation Guide

Volume 2 - So You want to run for Council - If you are thinking about running for NND Council, this handbook is for you. It has been written to help you identify, understand and think about the issues connected with being a Council member.

Volume 3 - NND Council Governance Guide - The work of Council and Council members is very broad, deep and demanding in nature. Council members are required to learn a great deal about government process and structure both at the outset and throughout their time in office. In essence, Council is required to know almost everything there is to know about the formal processes of government, administration, policy, strategic planning and the balance of responsibility between government and community.

Volume 4 - NND Management Team Manual - This guidebook has been written to help you understand what the Nacho Nyäk Dun Management Tea (NNDMT) is, and what your role as a member of the team will be. Because the NNDMT is the most important feature of the NND government administration, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Nacho Nyäk Dun achieves and maintains good governance.

Volume 5 - NND Admin Audit - Na-Cho Nyäk Dun is a self-governing First Nation, with legislative powers at the community (i.e. First Nation) level. Its authority is derived through its own sovereign NND Constitution, the Canadian Constitution, and overarching federal/territorial/First Nations land claims and self-government legislation. Its Land Claim Agreement is protected in the Canadian Constitution, and efforts to constitutionally entrench the self-government agreement are ongoing.
